It is easy to grow as it doesn't mind dry conditions and grows well with other herbs. It can be a low growing spreading bush, or can be a ground cover, depending on the variety. Thymus is a small evergreen aromatic saunders based dwarf shrub. There are many varieties of thyme, some grow as a small shrubby bush while others grow as a mat, forming creeper ground cover that, when you walk on it, releases a wonderful fragrance. I started off just keeping a pot or two of thyme on my kitchen windowsill then in containers on my balcony. The silver posie thyme with its white variegated leaves and pale mauve /pink flowers is one of my favorites. The flowers range in color from white, pale pink, purple, through to vivid reds and crimson.

Like wise there are many species with different colors, fragrances and textured leaves, which makes this herb ideal planted in amongst your flowers and vegetables to add contrast, aromatic and visual appeal.

Now I have a place with space outside for a garden.
